David R. Ortiz is a Deputy District Attorney at the 17th Judicial District Attorney's Office, a position held since August 2022. Prior to this role, David R. Ortiz served as a Research Assistant to Professor Gregory O’Meara at Marquette University Law School from January 2022 to May 2022 and completed legal internships at the United States Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Wisconsin and Colorado’s 5th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. Judicial internship experience includes a tenure at the Wisconsin Supreme Court and with Colorado’s 5th Judicial District. David R. Ortiz earned a Juris Doctor degree from Marquette University Law School and a Bachelor of Science in Counseling Psychology from Colorado State University.

With a focus on education, treatment, and a reduction in recidivism, the District Attorney’s Office will also work vigorously to reform the criminal justice system to better serve those who live and work in Adams and Broomfield Counties in Colorado.
