Kathleen Thompson, MBA, Welch Scholar has an extensive work experience. Kathleen began their career in 2000 as a Guest Service Manager at Target. In 2002, they moved to Raindance Communications as a Regional Account Manager, where they were responsible for managing and growing key accounts. In 2006, they became an Advocate/Case Manager at the Cherokee Family Violence Center, where they managed crisis situations and identified resources for victims. In 2007, they were promoted to Vice President; Customer Experience at Copper Services. In 2013, they became President of Copper Services by PGi and Director, Acquisition & Integration at PGi. In 2014, they were appointed President of 1Source International. In 2017, they became CEO of 1Source Events LLC. Currently, they are a Senior Dean, Honors Program Dean, and Distinguished Professor; Business at Strayer University.

Kathleen obtained a Bachelor of Science in Forensic Behavioral Analysis and Criminal Justice from Kennesaw State University between 2000 and 2006. In 2013, they earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the Jack Welch Management Institute in Leadership. Currently, they are pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Business Administration and Management from Capella University and is expected to graduate in 2026. Additionally, they have obtained two President's List certifications from Capella University, one in February 2023 and one in August 2022.
