David Coombs

David Coombs has worked in a variety of roles in the scientific and engineering field since 2000. David began their career in 2000 as a Manager of Image Analysis for Cytometrics. In 2001, they moved to SAIC as the Director of Computer Vision. In 2004, they became the Director of Robotics Technology and Autonomous Systems for SET Corp. From 2011-2019, they were an IARPA Program Manager for the Office of the Director of National Intelligence. From 2014-2020, they worked at Raytheon in various roles, including Engineering Fellow and R&D Manager/Technical Director. In 2019, they became a Member of the Air Force Scientific Advisory Board. In 2022, they became a Senior Engineer/Scientist at 2 Circle Consulting, Inc. and Director of Strategic Development at UMD Applied Research Lab for Intelligence & Security. Finally, in 2023, they became a Member of the Scientific Advisory Board for the United States Department of the Air Force.

David Coombs completed their PhD in Computer Science from the University of Rochester between 1986 and 1991. Prior to that, they attained a BS Honors in Computer Science from Michigan State University between 1982 and 1986.
