José Arnau

Director, Strain Development and Regulatory Affairs at 21st.BIO

José Arnau has worked in a variety of roles in the biotech industry since 1988. José's first role was a Post doc at Carlsberg A/S in Denmark. José then moved to the University of East Anglia as a Senior Research Associate in 1990. In 1993 they took a Research Lecturer position at the Royal Agric. Veterinary University in Denmark. From 1995 to 2004 they worked at Bioneer, first as a Project Manager and then as Head of Department, Fungal Biotechnology. During this time they established the department and grew it from 3 to 8 staff plus a number of national and international students. In 2004 they moved to Unizyme Laboratories as a Business Development Manager. After that they worked as a Senior Consultant at Wiborg ApS (Biotech Consulting) from 2007 to 2008. Since 2008 they have been at Novozymes, taking on roles such as Dept. Manager Fungal Strain Technology and Strain Approval Support, Group Leader Strain Approval Support, Group Leader, Pharma Cell Banking, and Science Manager. José is currently the Director, Strain Development and Regulatory Affairs at 21st.BIO.

José Arnau completed a mini MBA at Falconbury, London in 2006. José then went on to obtain a PhD in Molecular Genetics from the Universidad de Murcia in 1984-1988. Prior to this, they obtained an M Sc in Biology from the same university from 1979-1984.
