Katie Cashman

Katie Cashman is a seasoned professional in urban planning and environmental advocacy currently serving as a Minneapolis City Council Member for Ward 7 since January 2024. Prior experience includes serving as Project Manager at the Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy, where Katie managed legal and policy projects. In previous roles, Katie directed climate action initiatives across multiple regions as Director of Climate Action at 2811 and contributed to sustainable urban development projects as an Urban Planning and Law Consultant for UN-Habitat. Katie’s diverse background also encompasses freelance journalism with D+C Development and Cooperation, field research in Albania with Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit, and advocacy work in transportation sustainability at the Sierra Club. Educational credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in Geography and Anthropology from McGill University and a Master’s Degree in Urban Management from Technische Universität Berlin.
