Erin Craig

VP, Customer Solutions & Innovation & Board Member at 3Degrees

Erin Craig is vice president of the Customer Solutions and Innovation group at 3Degrees, where she leads the company’s efforts to accelerate deployment of new climate mitigation approaches across the company’s corporate, institutional, and utility clients. Prior to taking on this role, Erin headed up 3Degrees’ consulting business, capping more than a decade of advising the world’s largest corporations on climate and energy strategies.

In the early 1990s, Erin worked for a small computer company called Apple Computer, heading up the company’s efforts to rid products and suppliers of environmentally-hazardous substances. Call it her premier technical education, passion for climate science, knack for numbers, or all of the above — Erin was only getting started. Over the next two decades, Erin worked as a sustainability and services leader not only at Apple, but also at salesforce.com and Sun Microsystems.

Throughout her career, Erin has cultivated her understanding of the complexities of addressing climate change across divergent sets of needs and stakeholders. Early in her career, she authored studies for the California Energy Commission on climate change in the transportation sector and assisted with pilots of alternative-fueled transit buses in the Bay Area. She built a means to inventory and then eliminate harmful materials used in the worldwide manufacture of computer hardware products for two different companies. She initiated public reporting of key environmental metrics in the mid-1990s at Sun Microsystems, well before such reporting became the norm.

In 2007, she found her niche at Origin Climate (originally TerraPass) where she led the organization’s expansion into carbon offset project origination and renewable energy services. With the 2017 merger of Origin Climate and 3Degrees, Erin spearheaded 3Degrees’ Energy and Climate Practice, leading the team’s renewable energy and climate work with numerous global corporations, including two landmark renewable energy aggregations serving Apple, Akamai, eBay, Etsy, Samsung, Sprint, and Swiss Re.

When the sun is shining, Erin listens to audiobooks while tending vegetables in her Silicon Valley backyard garden. After dark, she likes to relax with Jean-Luc Picard, Han Solo, her husband, and rescue dogs (not necessarily in that order).

Erin holds a B.S. in Geophysics from Stanford University and an M.S. in technology and Policy from Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
