Matt Sweers

Matt Sweers is a seasoned professional in materials science and engineering, currently serving as a Senior Product Development Engineer at 3M since November 2025. Prior to this, Matt held positions as a Postdoctoral Appointee at Argonne National Laboratory, where significant contributions were made in electrocatalytic activity research and materials characterization for fuel cell catalysts. Matt also worked as a Chicago Fellow at Advanced Energy Group, leading efforts to secure DOE H2 Hub funding and supporting disadvantaged communities in clean transportation initiatives. With a PhD from Northwestern University, Matt's extensive research experience includes innovative methods for assessing electrocatalytic materials and exploring defect formation in thin films. Early career roles at various organizations, including internships at Axalta and Bosch, provided foundational engineering and research experience.
