Lena Flood

Lena Flood has a decade of experience in the scientific field. Lena began their career as a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas in 2001. In 2005, they joined Nomadics as a Research Scientist in the Advanced Concepts Group, where they adapted surface chemistry and microfluidics technologies established in SPR instrumentation to an alpha-prototype instrument. From 2006 to 2012, they worked at ICx Technologies, first as a Research Scientist and Grants Specialist in the Bioinstrumentation Division and then as a Research Scientist in the Advanced Concepts Group. During this time, they developed assays for use in SensíQ and SensíQ Pioneer SPR Instruments, and developed alpha-prototype microring resonator instruments. From 2012 to 2014, they were a Senior Staff Scientist at Visionary Pharmaceuticals, Inc., where they generated data that drove SAR for Visionary and for Curtana Pharmaceuticals and contributed to successful funding and eventual IND submission. From 2014 to 2016, they were a Scientist in Antibody Discovery at LakePharma, Inc., where they contributed to five different monoclonal antibody discovery campaigns for four different clients. From 2017 to 2019, they worked as a Scientist III in Protein Sciences at Merck, where they were a member of the Protein Core production team and was responsible for transient transfection and protein purification. Finally, they are currently a Scientist II at 3T Biosciences.

Lena Flood holds a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Industrial Microbiology from University College Dublin and a Bachelor of Science - BS in Biotechnology from Dublin City University. Lena has also obtained certifications in Bioinformatics, Genomic Sequencing Technologies, Foundations of Data Analysis - Part 1, Foundations of Data Analysis - Part 2, Fundamentals of Immunology, Part 1, and Fundamentals of Immunology, Part 2 from UC San Diego Extension and edX.
