Rolbos overland was conceived out of their love for the outdoors, photography and film making. The company was started to share their love for overlanding and further, the need for everyone to get off the couch and out of there houses to explore the wonderful world we live in. Simon specialized in high-quality content creation for the outdoor and overlanding market. Simon was also a brand ambassador for several local and international brands which include Alu-Cab, General Tires, SnoMaster, Wildog 4x4 Accessories and Blundstone.

In addition to their work at Rolbos Overland, Simon also did business consulting for businesses in need of business guidance and a keen eye for processes and structure. Because of their broad skill set, there were numerous businesses in various fields that benefit from their understanding of how all the aspects should fit together.

Before their work as a Co-Founder and business consultant, Simon was also a Manager at JC's Brasserie for 6 months and a Sales Rep at Diesel for 7 months.

Simon van der Merwe attended the College of Cape Town from 2007 to 2008, where they studied graphic design.
