Heather Terry Elliott has a diverse work experience in the non-profit sector. Heather started their career at the Make-A-Wish Foundation as a Wish Coordinator in 2002 and later became a Community Relations Coordinator. In 2005, they joined Children's National Medical Center as an Associate Director for Workplace Giving. From 2010 to 2012, they worked at the American Red Cross, holding positions as Manager of Corporate Partnerships and Manager of Development Opportunities. Since 2012, they have been working at the National 4-H Council, initially as the Director of Corporate Partnerships, then as the Vice President of Development, and currently as the Chief Development Officer.

Heather Terry Elliott obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Commerce from the University of Virginia, where they studied from 1998 to 2002. Following this, from 2007 to 2009, they pursued their Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the Georgetown University McDonough School of Business.
