Won Tae Joe

Won Tae Joe is an accomplished engineering professional with extensive experience in battery technology and electric mobility. Currently serving as Director of HV Engineering at 42dot since June 2025, Won has previously held significant roles at Rivian, including Principal Engineer in Battery Cell Modeling and Controls and Director of Battery Management Software, from November 2020 to June 2025. At LG Chem, from July 2010 to November 2020, Won excelled as Research Fellow and e-Platform Director, focusing on re-imagining battery management and usage across the storage lifecycle, and led teams in electrochemical modeling, performance degradation, and algorithm development. Educational background includes a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Caltech and a BS in Mechanical Engineering from UC San Diego.
