Bill Carlson

Bill Carlson has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several companies and roles. Bill currently holds the position of Senior Software Engineer at 47 Degrees, a part of Xebia. Prior to that, they worked at Kunai as a Scala Developer, where they provided Scala development and leadership as a consultant to Capital One. Bill was part of the Prometheus team and worked on the development of a next-generation language for writing instruments. Bill also wrote Scala compiler and sbt plugins for the project.

Before Kunai, Bill worked at Jack Henry & Associates as a Software Enginee Advisory. In this role, they primarily focused on integrating third-party service providers with the Banno division's online and mobile banking services. Bill provided third-tier off-hours support and utilized Scala with the Typelevel stack.

Prior to Jack Henry & Associates, Bill worked at Cotiviti as an Innovation Developer. Bill was responsible for creating a fully automated, distributed claim adjudication engine called Hiro 1.0 that processed claims through multiple policies and provided customer insights.

Before Cotiviti, Bill was a Senior Software Engineer and Implementation Architect at VorroHealth. Bill worked closely with customers to identify and resolve issues in the software and was involved in all aspects of the development cycle.

Earlier in their career, Bill worked at Autonomy, Inc. as a Senior Consultant, providing post-sales consulting solutions to integrate Verity Enterprise Search capabilities in customer environments. Bill was involved in requirements gathering, hardware design, data indexing, taxonomy creation, interface design, and testing.

Starting their career at INRI, Bill worked as a Software Engineer, primarily focusing on the Joint Maritime Command Information System (JMCIS) and later on the Global Command and Control System (GCCS) Common Operating Environment (COE). Bill specifically worked on the JMCIS/GCCS Segment Installer.

Bill Carlson attended the University of Virginia from 1990 to 1994, where they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science. These include the Lightbend Scala Language - Professional certification from Lightbend, Inc. in June 2020, Principles of Reactive Programming certification from Coursera in December 2013, Programming Languages certification from Coursera in March 2013, and Functional Programming Principles in Scala certification from Coursera in November 2012.
