Lucía Vélez Hortelano has over 10 years of experience in software engineering. Lucía began their career in 2009 as a Java Developer at EPICSA, where they developed J2EE applications. In 2012, they became a Software Engineer at Navantia, S.A., S.M.E, where they designed, analyzed and developed a naval communications system using VoIP (Hermesys). In 2015, they joined The Workshop - Inventors of play as an Agile Software Engineer, where they were responsible for maintaining and expanding the payment system for a gambling platform. In 2018, they moved to Ciklum as a Senior Java Software Engineer. Currently, they are a Senior Scala Software Engineer at 47 Degrees and a Senior Software Engineer at Solera Global Data & Content.
Lucía Vélez Hortelano has a Bachelor in Software Engineering from the University of Cádiz, which they obtained between 2001 and 2007. Lucía then went on to obtain a Master's Degree in Software Engineering from the same university between 2007 and 2011. In addition, they have obtained several certifications, including a Certified Scrum Master from the Scrum Alliance in 2015, a Certificate in Advanced English - Grade A from Cambridge ESOL in 2012, and several Reactive Architecture certifications from Lightbend, Inc. in 2021.
