Sangeet Lal, Ph.D.

Sangeet Lal, Ph.D. has an extensive and diverse work experience in the field of biomedical research. From 2008 to 2011, they worked as an Industrial Internship Researcher at Life Technologies. Following that, they served as a Post-doctoral Fellow at Oregon Health & Sciences University from 2011 to 2013, where they conducted research on the cross-talk between alphaV-integrin and HER2 receptor in breast tumor cells.

From 2013 to 2017, Sangeet Lal was a Post-doctoral Scholar at the University of California, San Francisco, where they engineered a retargeted Oncolytic Measles Virus to selectively bind activated integrins on tumor vasculature, allowing for potential systemic intravenous delivery. Sangeet also demonstrated the effectiveness of this modified virus in killing various cancer cell lines.

At the University of California, San Francisco - School of Medicine, Sangeet Lal held the position of Professional Researcher from 2017 to 2019. During this time, they focused on the interaction between the immune system and the oncolytic Measles Virus therapy for medulloblastoma, a common brain tumor in children. Sangeet developed a syngeneic immunocompetent mouse model to study the effects of this therapy and investigated the combination of MV treatment with other immunotherapy approaches.

Currently, Sangeet Lal works at 4D Molecular Therapeutics since 2019. Sangeet has held multiple roles, including Scientist II, Senior Scientist, and their current role as Lead, Bioassays Dev and QC. Sangeet is responsible for the development, optimization, and qualification of cell-based bioassays for release, stability, and comparability of gene therapy drug products. Additionally, they perform quality control of bioassays and writes SOPs, IND, and DSURs for regulatory agencies.

Sangeet Lal, Ph.D. received their Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry (Honors) from L.N.M. University in India from 1997 to 2001. Sangeet then pursued a Master of Science degree in Biotechnology at the Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay from 2002 to 2004. Continuing their academic journey, Sangeet Lal obtained their Ph.D. in Cancer Cell Biology, Biochemistry, and Biophysics from Oregon State University, where they studied from 2005 to 2010. Alongside their formal education, Sangeet Lal has also completed several certifications to enhance their skills and knowledge.
