Brian McNicoll

Brian McNicoll has a diverse work experience in various roles related to entrepreneurship, business development, and management. Brian is the Founder of 532 Design Limited since 2022 and Head of Entrepreneurship at the University of Dundee since the same year. Previously, they served as a Steering Committee Member and Judge at Converge starting in 2016. From 2016 to 2022, they held the position of Head at the Centre for Entrepreneurship, University of Dundee, where they provided support and guidance to students, graduates, and staff in developing and scaling their startup ventures. Brian also worked as an Enterprise Advisor - Consultant at the University of Aberdeen in 2017. Prior to that, they were the Business Partnership Manager at Design in Action, where they facilitated collaborations between industry and academia. Brian also owned and managed Golf Trace Limited from 2012 to 2016 and Haptic Play from 2012 to 2013. Furthermore, Brian worked in business development and strategy at Speech Graphics from 2012 to 2013. Their career began in 2004 as the Managing Director and Co-Founder of Dynamo Games, a BAFTA award-winning game developer specializing in social gaming and smartphone & tablet sectors. In this role, they were responsible for overseeing creative vision and product development.

Brian McNicoll attended the University of Dundee from 1999 to 2003, where they received a Bsc (Hons) degree in Applied Computing. Brian then pursued further education at the same university from 2021 to 2022, earning a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Design for Business. In addition to their degrees, Brian obtained a certification in FCMI from the Chartered Management Institute in September 2017.
