Caroline Chan

Advisory Board Member at 5G Open Innovation Lab

Caroline Chan is an Advisory Board Member at 5G Open Innovation Lab. Caroline was previously the Director of Wireless Product Line Management at Nortel from August 2004 to April 2009. In this role, they managed a team of senior product managers for WiMAX networks, responsible for end to end WiMAX portfolio and roadmap including BTS, access gateways, OAM and connectivity service network components. Caroline also oversaw product management and business development for 4G Femto and Relay product under Chief Technology Officer, which won a trial with a tier 1 North American operator.

Chan has also worked with ecosystem partners, from applications to terminal and chipset vendors, driving end to end network design. Caroline has experience developing new business opportunities in North America, Asia (Japan, Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, and India), and CALA (Telefonica and Telmex). Additionally, they have driven 4G network convergence – WiMAX and LTE as well as 4G evolution strategy – business prime for WiMAX Forum, IEEE802.16J and IEEE802.16m.

Before their time at Nortel, Chan worked as a Software Design Engineer at Interphase from January 1991 to December 1993.

Caroline Chan completed a BS in Electrical and Computer Engineering at The University of Texas at Austin. Caroline then completed an MS in Electrical and Computer Engineering at University of Massachusetts Amherst.
