Robert Crotty

COO; Chief Adminstrative Officer at 5th Kind

Robert Crotty has extensive work experience in various leadership roles in the media and entertainment industry.

Starting in 1997, Crotty worked as a VFX Producer at VisionArt/Santa Monica Studios. From 2002 to 2006, they served as the General Manager at The VFX Production Company/DI Group, where they launched a digital effects facility and managed daily operations.

In 2006, Crotty joined Sony Pictures Entertainment and held multiple leadership roles as Marketing Manager, Workflow Consultant, Creative Content Manager, and Operations Manager. Robert was responsible for production in Home Entertainment Marketing, led marketing campaigns, and managed production budgets.

From 2010 to 2017, Crotty worked at 5th Kind, Inc. as the VP of Business Development. In this role, they established operational, financial, and technical processes for scalability and growth. Robert also built the Sales function and directed teams in flagship product sales.

Crotty then joined Sohonet (formerly known as 5th Kind, Collaborative Media Solutions) in 2017 as the COO and Chief Administrative Officer. In this position, they oversaw operations, IT capabilities, accounting, vendors, legal, staffing, and team performance. Robert managed client relationships, vendor relationships, and a staffing budget.

Currently, Crotty serves as an Independent Consultant starting in 2023.

Robert Crotty's education includes a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science and Government from UC San Diego, completed from 1988 to 1993. In 1992, they attended Richmond, The American International University in London, focusing on Fine/Studio Arts, but no degree was specified. Similarly, in 1991, they studied Film/Cinema/Video Studies at New York University, but no degree was obtained. Prior to their higher education, Crotty earned a High School Diploma from Villanova Preparatory School between 1984 and 1988.
