Ryan Johnston is the CEO of 6AM City, a position they have held since September 2016. Prior to that, they were the Director of The Founder Institute from June 2015 to September 2016. The Founder Institute is the world’s largest entrepreneur training and startup launch program, helping aspiring founders across the globe build enduring technology companies. In the Founder Institute's four-month, part-time program, promising startup entrepreneurs “learn by doing” and launch a company through structured training courses, practical business-building assignments, and expert feedback from a large network of business mentors. Plus, aspiring founders are not required to quit their day job to participate, so they can begin building a business around their ideas without putting their livelihood at risk. Based in Silicon Valley and with chapters across 75 cities and 30 countries, the Founder Institute has helped launch over 1,500 companies, which have created over 15,000 new jobs. Before their work with The Founder Institute, Ryan Johnston was the Publisher of Upstate Business Journal from June 2012 to May 2018.
Ryan Johnston's educational career began at Clemson University, where they studied Entrepreneurship and Management at the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business. Ryan later went on to study International Business & Marketing at Lorenzo De' Medici - Florence, Italy.
