A Step Up Academy is a private, not-for-profit school for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder from Preschool through 8th grade.

Grounded in evidence-based practices with a focus on targeting the fundamental areas of communication, we work with students, families, school districts and communities to place children back into a fully inclusive environment.

Our focus is to serve the growing population of young children on the autism spectrum that have significant developmental delays, speech and language difficulties, and moderate behaviors that are associated with the diagnosis. We serve children in preschool through fourth grade. A Step Up Academy targets cognitive, academic, social, sensory, and motor development, as well as adaptive and problem behaviors that interfere with learning. We offer in-house speech & language and occupational therapies.

The Instructional Support Team at A Step Up Academy is dedicated to providing specialized educational support for children with Autism Spectrum Disorder. Team members, including instructional assistants and assistant teachers, collaborate to implement individualized academic and behavioral strategies, assist in classroom activities, and support therapies such as speech, language, and occupational. Their combined efforts ensure a comprehensive and inclusive learning environment tailored to the unique needs of each student.

Utilizing evidence-based practices, team members provide targeted interventions and support tailored to each student's unique needs. The team collaborates closely with families, school districts, and communities to facilitate the inclusion of children into mainstream educational environments. Areas of focus include communication, cognitive development, sensory and motor skills, as well as addressing adaptive and problem behaviors to optimize learning outcomes.
