Chuck Li

Automation Engineer at A2 Biotherapeutics

Chuck Li has extensive work experience in the field of engineering and automation. Chuck started their career at the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke, NIH as a Student Scientist, where they focused on investigating cortical control for motor prosthesis in primates. Their responsibilities included developing computer programs, utilizing recording electrode arrays, and transferring real-time data.

After their time at NIH, Chuck worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Southern California, where they conducted basic research in neuroscience and electrophysiology. Chuck managed laboratory equipment and trained fellow students while studying the roles of neurotrophins and neuromodulators in synapse formation and maintenance.

Chuck then joined Amgen Inc, where they held several roles over the course of two decades. As a Research Automation Engineer II and III, they contributed to the development and optimization of automated production systems. Chuck integrated analytical systems with robotics hardware, developed automation protocols, and adhered to industrial safety standards.

At Amgen, Chuck also served as a Senior Engineer, where they co-invented an automated high-throughput luminescence and fluorescence screening platform. Chuck designed a spectrally pure and spatially uniform light source, resulting in superior system performance. Their contributions enabled content-rich, multiplex, and ratiometric assays for better insights into drug mechanisms.

After leaving Amgen, Chuck worked at Cytokinetics as a Senior Manager of Engineering and Integrated Systems, overseeing engineering and the integration of systems for the company.

Currently, Chuck is employed as an Automation Engineer at A2 Biotherapeutics, Inc., where they are responsible for automation-related tasks.

Chuck Li has a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering from the University of Southern California. Chuck also holds a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from the same institution. However, no specific start or end years were provided for either degree.
