Crystal Smitherman Rosenberg has a diverse work experience in the field of enzymology and research. Crystal started their career as a Research Scientist at Deerland Enzymes in March 2009 and worked there until August 2010. Crystal then joined Georgia State University as a Graduate Research Assistant in August 2010, where they focused on mechanistic enzymology and conducted research on characterizing Class I nitronate monooxygenases. After completing their graduate research in August 2015, Crystal joined Aalto Scientific, LTD. in September 2015 as a Research and Development Chemist. Crystal worked in this role until October 2016, when they were promoted to the position of Director of Development. In addition to their work at Aalto Scientific, Crystal also served as the Chair of the 2017 Gordon Research Seminar on Enzymes, Coenzymes, & Metabolic Pathways, which was held in July 2017.

Crystal pursued their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemistry from Berry College, completing it between the years 2005 and 2008. Following their undergraduate studies, Crystal advanced their knowledge by enrolling at Georgia State University. From 2010 to 2013, they obtained a Master of Science (MS) degree in Chemistry from the same institution. Crystal's dedication to their field led their to pursue further education, and they successfully completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Chemistry at Georgia State University from 2010 to 2015.
