Omar Mustafa Ansari serves as the Secretary-General of the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI) since April 2015, leading the development of global standards in Shari'ah, accounting, auditing, governance, and ethics within Islamic finance, while also promoting advocacy and professional development. Previously, Omar held the role of Acting Secretary General and Assistant/Deputy Secretary General at AAOIFI, focusing on similar standard development and research activities. Omar's extensive experience includes a partnership at Ernst & Young, where leadership was provided for the Islamic Financial Services Group and Accounting Compliance and Reporting from July 2006 to March 2015, along with a pivotal role at Ernst & Young Ford Rhodes Sidat Hyder as partner and head of the Islamic Financial Services Group for Pakistan and Afghanistan since 1993. Education credentials include a FCA in Chartered Accountancy from The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Pakistan and earlier qualifications from Government Dehli College and SMS Aga Khan School.
