Tara Shaver

Tara Shaver is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in volunteer engagement and community outreach. Since October 2005, Tara has held various roles at AARP, currently serving as a Senior Advisor in the Office of Volunteer Engagement, where responsibilities include developing and supporting state volunteer engagement strategies. Previously, as Associate State Director for Community Outreach, Tara focused on recruiting and training AARP member-volunteers and coordinating lobbying efforts and service projects. Additionally, Tara served as Interim Communications Director, managing AARP's communication channels in Tennessee. Prior experience includes owning Avenue 2 Ballroom & Social Dance Studio and leading the Cottage Place Homeowners Association as President. In earlier career roles, Tara worked as an Aging Services Program Specialist with the Alabama Department of Senior Services, overseeing critical state programs. Tara holds a Master of Public Administration in Health Policy and Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Health Services Administration from Auburn University.
