Gloria L. Blackwell

Gloria L. Blackwell has extensive work experience in various leadership positions in organizations focused on women's and girls' equity and opportunities. Gloria L. has been with AAUW since 2004, where they currently hold the position of Chief Executive Officer and United Nations Main Representative. In this role, they collaborate with global coalitions and UN entities. Prior to this, Gloria served as the Executive Vice President & Chief Program Officer and United Nations Main Representative at AAUW, leading multifaceted teams in designing and implementing initiatives to advance women's and girls' education, career development, STEM, leadership, and economic advancement. Gloria L. also awarded $5 million annually in global fellowships and grant programs and oversaw the organization's strategic communications. Before joining AAUW, Gloria worked at the Institute of International Education, where they served as the Director of Africa Education Programs. Gloria L. also held the position of Assistant Director in the Hubert H. Humphrey Fellowship Program at the same institute. Gloria's earlier experience includes working as a Country Desk Officer for the Peace Corps, where they were responsible for Cameroon, Niger, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, and Sao Tome e Principe.

Gloria L. Blackwell holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Foreign Service with a focus on International Affairs from Georgetown University. Gloria L. then pursued a Master of Arts in Education and Human Development, specializing in International Education, at The George Washington University. Additionally, they attended The American University of Paris for non-degree studies and explored subjects such as French, Mathematics, History, and Politics. In 2023, they enrolled in the Yale School of Management to participate in the Executive Education Women's Leadership Program.
