Matthias Wimmer

Matthias Wimmer has a diverse work experience spanning over a period of almost two decades. Matthias is currently the Co-Founder and CTO at abaut GmbH, a position they have held since September 2018. Prior to this, they worked at IPS Intelligent Video Analytics for six years from January 2012 to February 2018, serving as the Head of Department for VideoAnalytics.

Before IPS, Matthias worked at Securiton GmbH, where they held multiple roles in the field of Software Development for VideoAnalytics. Matthias was a Team-Lead for the Software Development team from October 2009 to December 2011, and prior to that, they held a position as an Employee in the same department from April 2009 to September 2009.

Matthias has also gained valuable experience in the world of research and academia. Matthias served as the Head of Research Group at Technical University Munich from December 2007 to March 2009. Prior to that, they worked as a Post-doctoral Researcher at Waseda University from June 2007 to November 2007. Matthias has also worked as a Doctoral Student at Technical University Munich from April 2003 to May 2007.

Additionally, Matthias has industry experience from their time as a Diploma Student at Siemens Corporate Research from April 2002 to September 2002, and an Intern at SEKAS GmbH from October 2000 to May 2001. Overall, Matthias Wimmer has a strong background in engineering and research, with a focus on video analytics.

Matthias Wimmer obtained their Dipl.-Inf. degree in Computer Science from the Technical University of Munich, where they studied from 1997 to 2002. Matthias then pursued further education and received their Dr. rer. nat. degree in Computer Vision and Face Image Analysis from the same university, where they studied from 2003 to 2007. Following this, they worked as a Post-doctoral Researcher at Waseda University in 2007, specializing in Face Image Analysis. Prior to their university education, Matthias attended Gertrud-von-le-Fort Gymnasium for their secondary education and Volksschule Hirschegg for their primary education, although the specific years of attendance are unknown.
