Santosh Prabhu

Divisional VP, Product Development, Structural Heart at Abbott

Santosh Prabhu is currently the Divisional VP of Product Development for Structural Heart at Abbott. Prior to this, they were a Principal R&D Engineer at Guidant Corporation from July 2000 to September 2005. While at Guidant, they were key member of the team responsible for developing bare metal and drug-eluting stent platforms. Santosh also developed Finite Element Analysis (FEA) techniques for the structural analysis of metallic stents designed for coronary and peripheral application and biodegradable stents designed for coronary applications. In addition, they used FEA to perform structural analysis on abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) stent grafts and devices used for performing anastomosis procedures. Santosh successfully completed all phases of the FEA needed for the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) IDE and CE Mark filing of the stents. Lastly, they developed CFD models for studying distribution of micro/nanoparticles in blood flow and in arterial wall.

Santosh Prabhu has a Master of Business Administration from Santa Clara University Leavey School of Business, a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware, and an MS in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Alabama. Santosh also has a B.Tech in Aerospace Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay, and has completed Stanford Biodesign Executive Education at Stanford University.
