Darvin J. Griffin

Director, Clinical Development at AbbVie

Darvin J. Griffin, PhD, currently serves as the Director of Clinical Development at AbbVie, beginning in April 2021. Previously, Griffin held the position of Global Clinical Strategy Lead at Smith & Nephew, where responsibilities included developing global clinical investigational plans and addressing regulatory requirements. Prior roles included Clinical Project Manager at Medtronic, focused on clinical research management, and R&D Consultant at Histogenics Corporation, directing mechanical assessments for cartilage repair systems. Griffin also contributed as a Research Fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital, specializing in musculoskeletal tissue engineering, and completed an immersion experience in orthopedic surgery at Hospital for Special Surgery. Earlier experience included overseeing a significant animal clinical study at Genzyme. Griffin earned a PhD and a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Cornell University, following a Bachelor of Science in Biological/Biosystems Engineering from Mississippi State University.
