Geoff Smith

Geoff Smith has a diverse work experience spanning over 25 years. Geoff started their career as an Interactive Content Developer at Silicon Graphics, where they designed and managed graphic and video assets for the Time Warner Full Service Network. Geoff then worked as a WebMaster at NeXT Software, managing all aspects of the company's web presence and producing online events. Smith later joined Organic as a Senior Content Engineer, leading HTML development on complex projects and assisting in the restructuring of the production department.

At Lucasfilm Ltd., they served as an Internet Developer, leading interface design and front-end development for mosespa.starwars.com. Geoff then worked as the Director of Web Content at VMware, where they provided strategic direction, implemented content, and ensured a positive user experience for the company's online presence.

Smith later worked as an Independent Consultant, specializing in web development, design, and production. Geoff had expertise in XHTML, CSS, PHP, Javascript, and jQuery, and worked on significant projects in Wordpress and Drupal. Geoff then joined Ingage as the Lead Engineer and Content Manager, leading front-end development and content production for iPad editions of Hearst Inc.

At Intel Corporation, Smith served as a Product Manager, driving product strategy and development for an HTML5-based software product. Geoff created and ported sample applications and utilized responsive design and single-page app techniques.

Smith then moved to Jaguar Land Rover as a Senior Web Developer, creating single-page web applications for automotive touchscreen-based infotainment systems. Geoff also designed and managed aspects of the continuous integration build process and mentored junior developers.

Currently, they work at AbelCine as a Camera Technology Specialist, focusing on set-to-post workflow and leading workshops on various cameras and color and DIT-related topics.

Geoff Smith obtained their Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Design from California State University, Chico from 1989 to 1993. Geoff then pursued Professional Development Coursework in Photography and Digital Imaging at the International Center of Photography from 2006 to 2011.

In addition to their formal education, Geoff Smith has also acquired several certifications. Geoff became an ISF Level III Calibration Tech. from the Imaging Science Foundation in June 2019. In February 2018, they obtained the Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve 14 certification from Blackmagic Design. Prior to that, in July 2015, they became a REDucation Instructor certified by RED Digital Cinema. And in September 2014, they obtained the ARRI Alexa Technician certification from AbelCine.
