Abilities First
Shayla Jenkins is an experienced childcare and support professional with a diverse background in individual and family services. Currently serving as a Nanny/Newborn Care Specialist/Travel Nanny since August 2020, responsibilities include managing childcare for a family of six, household organization, meal preparation, and fostering positive relationships with children and families. Concurrently, since September 2019, Shayla holds the position of NEXT STEPS Support Coordinator at Abilities First. Previous roles include Marketing Director at Small Batch Burritos, Mission and Recruitment Director at Barnabas Foundation Inc, and various positions at Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield, contributing to academic and personal enrichment for youth. Shayla's educational background includes a Master's degree in Early Childhood Education and Family Development, a Bachelor's degree in Child and Family Development, and an Associate of Arts degree in General Studies, all obtained from Missouri State University and its West Plains campus.

Abilities First is an organization that promotes inclusive opportunities for people with developmental disabilities. We believe that everyone has abilities and by ensuring that people have the opportunity to use their abilities, we make our community better for all of us. Abilities First uses public and private funds to support the choices of individuals with developmental disabilities in Greene County to live, work, play, be active, and productive in meaningful ways for our community.
