Tara Moore

Scientific Advisor at Abingdon Health

Tara Moore, Professor of Personalised Medicine, holds a chair at Ulster University in Northern Ireland where her research team concentrate on partner diagnostics and therapeutics for genetic disease. Her work is disseminated worldwide through her contribution to guest lectures and workshops and internationally co-authored peer reviewed publications. Tara has contributed to numerous textbooks and authored over 150 publications in high impact peer reviewed journals reflecting internationally competitive research of high quality with 3790 total citations, h-index of 33 and i10-index of 72.

Tara concurrently holds position of Chief of Research and Innovation for USA based international company Avellino Labs in Menlo Park, San Francisco USA. Avellino is a leading diagnostic company with its provision for COVID-19 consistently gaining number 1 position for turn-around time and top 10 in the total test count dashboard for California.

Tara is a Fellow of Royal Society of Biology, Royal Society of Arts, Royal Society of Medicine and Honorary Fellow of Royal College of Physicians (London) FRCP, FFLM. The culmination of Tara’s contribution to health and improving people’s lives whilst inspiring others to see the opportunities to make a difference through science was recognised with the prestigious WISE award. Tara was nominated and voted as a double awardee for the Ophthalmologist’s Power List 2019 in two categories- Emerging Leaders: Movers and shakers influencing the world of ophthalmology – and beyond alongside her nomination in Inventors: Intelligent and inquisitive minds opening the door to the future of ophthalmology. Tara was also awarded THE Research Supervisor of the year award 2020 and a Royal Irish Academy- US Chambers of Commerce Research Innovation Award 2020. Most recently, Tara’s research underpinned multi-million-dollar series B funding to accelerate therapeutic programmes to treat rare genetic conditions. Tara represents Northern Ireland on the UKRI Strengths in Places panel for the distribution of research and innovation funding to support significant regional growth.
