Francesco Vicario

Francesco Vicario has a diverse work experience in various companies and roles. Francesco is currently working as an Associate Director of Algorithm Engineering at Abiomed since 2023. Previously, they worked at Philips from 2013 to 2023, holding positions such as Group Leader & Principal Scientist, Group Leader & Senior Scientist, Senior Scientist, and Scientist in various domains including Sleep and Respiratory Care, Predictive Analytics for Acute Care, and Home Ventilation. During their time at Philips, they led multiple R&D projects, conducted technical project reviews, and collaborated with MIT and Lincoln Lab on projects that resulted in licensing opportunities for Philips Health Tech. Moreover, they also worked as an Adjunct Assistant Professor at Columbia University in 2015 and played the role of Instructor, Teaching Assistant, and Research Assistant at Columbia University from 2010 to 2014. Before that, they gained experience at Alstom Transport as a Bid Manager, Mechanical Systems Engineer, and Tilting System Engineer. Francesco also worked as a Consultant at CSEA and as a Research Assistant at Politecnico di Torino. Additionally, they started their career as a Mechanical Engineer at Intek 2000.

Francesco Vicario obtained a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from Columbia Engineering between 2010 and 2014. Francesco also earned a Master of Science in Operations Research in 2012 from the same institution. Prior to their time at Columbia Engineering, they completed a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Politecnico di Torino in 2006, and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the same institution between 2001 and 2004. Francesco Vicario also holds a High School Diploma in Science from Liceo Darwin, which they obtained in 2001. In terms of additional certifications, they have obtained 34 Continuing Medical Education (CME) credits from Medmastery in various medical fields in 2023, and they are a Certified SAFe® 5 Product Owner/ Product Manager, certified by Scaled Agile, Inc. in 2020.
