Paul Durdin

Technical Director at Abley

Paul Durdin has extensive work experience in the transportation and engineering industry. Paul began their career in 1999 as a Road Safety Engineer at Opus International Consultants Limited and later worked as a Traffic Engineer at Beca from 2002 to 2004. In 2004, they joined GTA Consultants as a Project Manager before moving to Beca Infrastructure Limited as a Senior Transportation Engineer from 2005 to 2007.

In 2008, Paul joined Abley as a Principal Engineer and held this role until 2018. During their time at Abley, they also served as the Transportation Group Manager from 2018 to 2021 and as an Executive Director (Board Member) from 2010 onwards. In November 2021, Paul was appointed as the Technical Director at Abley.

In 2019, Paul assumed the role of Co-Chair NZ Chapter at the Australasian College of Road Safety. Overall, Paul Durdin has demonstrated expertise and progression in the transportation and engineering field throughout their career.

Paul Durdin has a strong educational background in civil engineering. Paul attended the University of Canterbury from 1995 to 1998, where they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (Honors) degree in Civil Engineering. Prior to their university education, Paul Durdin attended St Bedes College in Christchurch from 1990 to 1994. Paul also attended Casebrook Intermediate from 1988 to 1989.

In addition to their educational qualifications, Paul Durdin has obtained certifications in their field. Paul holds a Level 1 STMS certification from Waka Kotahi NZ Transport Agency and is also a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng), accredited by the Institution of Professional Engineers New Zealand (IPENZ).
