Jeff Tan has had extensive work experience in the aviation industry. Jeff started their career as a Workshop Engineer at ST Engineering in 2006 and then moved on to GE Aviation as a Production Engineer from 2007 to 2009. Jeff joined Rolls-Royce in 2010 as a Project Engineer and remained in that role until 2012. From 2012 to 2015, they worked at Pratt & Whitney as a Powerplant Engineer, providing technical advice and workscope recommendations for turbofan engines. Jeff then transitioned to the role of Customer Account Manager at Pratt & Whitney from 2015 to 2018. Currently, they are working at AerCap as a Technical Support Manager, overseeing lease asset status and technical provisions for various accounts.

Jeff Tan's education history begins in 1998 when they attended Temasek Polytechnic, where they obtained a diploma in Quality Engineering and Management, completing their studies in 2001. After that, in 2003, they enrolled at the National University of Singapore and pursued a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, which they successfully earned in 2006. Following this, from 2007 to 2008, they attended the Air Transport Training College, where they obtained a diploma in Aviation/Aircraft Maintenance. In 2009, Jeff pursued further studies and obtained a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the National University of Singapore, completing their studies in 2012.

Continuing their educational journey, they joined the University College Dublin in 2013 to pursue a Master's degree in Supply Chain Management, completing their studies in 2014. Then, in 2015 and 2016, Jeff attended Kaplan International Pathways and earned a diploma in Information Technology. Their latest educational pursuit occurred in 2022, when they attended the Law Society of Ireland to earn a diploma in Aircraft Leasing and Finance.
