Akshay Umashankar has extensive work experience across various industries. Akshay began their career as a Project Controls Intern at SNC Lavalin Group, where they worked on a large-scale construction project. Akshay then joined the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign as a Research Assistant, focusing on water quality engineering and developing solutions for clean drinking water in Mexican villages.

Afterwards, Akshay worked at Leopardo Companies, Inc. as a Project Engineer, responsible for managing structural engineering and design for building projects. Akshay led sustainable design efforts and implemented scheduling software, improving project schedule forecasting accuracy.

Following that, Akshay joined ARCO/Murray as a Project Manager, overseeing the design, engineering, and construction of industrial projects. Akshay successfully completed multiple projects for Fortune 500 clients, generating significant revenue and profit.

Akshay then transitioned to Bain & Company, initially as a Summer Associate and later as a Consultant and Manager. Akshay worked on various cases, leading teams and providing strategic consulting services.

Most recently, Akshay held roles at Palo Alto Networks and Abnormal Security, specializing in go-to-market strategy and analytics. Akshay served as Director of Go-To-Market Strategy and later as Head of Go-To-Market Strategy & Analytics.

Prior to that, they pursued a Bsc degree in Civil and Environmental Engineering and Finance from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, which they completed from 2006 to 2010. Akshay also holds a certification as a LEED AP BD+C from the Green Building Certification Institute, which they obtained in April 2011.
