Mary Day is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in legal and community services, currently serving as a Practice Coordinator at the Aboriginal Legal Service since January 2018. Mary has held various roles including Regional Administration Coordinator and Legal Secretary. With a strong focus on mediation, Mary worked as a Mediator at the Community Justice Centre until December 2020 and as a Conference Organizer at Legal Aid NSW prior to that. Mary's background includes serving as a SHE Coordinator and Project Administrator at BAE Systems, a Project Officer at Legal Aid NSW, and an Indigenous Employment Officer at UnitingCare NSW/ACT. Additionally, Mary has contributed to the community as a level 1 Basketball Coach since 2006 with Newtown Black Stars and has volunteered with Midnight Basketball Australia. Mary obtained a Level 1 Basketball Coach certification in 2021 and pursued further education at the Institute of Family Practice from 2012 to 2013.

Born out of a protest movement, we are the primary legal service for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in NSW and the ACT. We deliver free, culturally appropriate legal and wraparound advice, representation, information and referrals for thousands of people each year. We are recognised nationally for our strong advocacy and law reform work.
