Tjaart van Wijck

Tjaart van Wijck has extensive work experience in the technology and financial sectors. Tjaart is currently serving as the Chief Technology Officer at Abound since February 2023, where they also previously held the position of DevOps lead from January 2021 until February 2023.

Prior to Abound, Tjaart worked at HSBC as a Solutions Architect, Finance Change, from May 2016 until November 2020. Before that, they worked at Bank of England as a Stress Testing Developer from August 2014 to February 2016. Tjaart also held the role of Lead Developer, FDSF, at Barclays from January 2013 to August 2014.

In addition, Tjaart has experience as a Credit Risk Analyst and Developer at Lloyds Banking Group from September 2011 to September 2012. Tjaart also worked as a Director at Cubicle Limited from March 2011 to September 2011, where they were responsible for the development of a .NET-based object handler framework.

Starting their career, Tjaart was a Manager at Ernst & Young from August 2006 to March 2011. During their time at Ernst & Young, they were involved in various financial modeling projects for clients in the financial institution industry, such as Op-Risk Model Development for Fidelity, Impairment and Capital forecasting for C&G, and Derivatives Valuation for various clients.

Tjaart van Wijck has a strong education background, with a focus on financial risk management and actuarial science. Tjaart obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial and Computer Science from Stellenbosch University, where they studied from 2000 to 2003. Following this, they pursued an Honours degree in Risk Management in 2004 at the same university. Tjaart then completed their Master's Degree in Financial Risk Management at Stellenbosch University from 2005 to 2006.
