Brian Duggan

Strategic Partnership Policy Director at ABPI

Brian Duggan has a diverse work experience spanning various sectors and roles. Brian currently holds the position of Strategic Partnership Policy Director at The Association of the British Pharmaceutical Industry (ABPI) since 2022. Prior to that, they worked at NHS England, where they served as the Chief of Staff for the National Medical Directorate and later as the Head of Medicines and Diagnostics Policy. Brian also worked as a Senior Policy Advisor for the European Transition Team, focusing on advising and briefing senior NHS and health leaders regarding the implications of Britain's departure from the European Union.

Before their work at NHS England, Brian was associated with The Labour Party as the Head of Labour In for Britain, providing political advice to senior politicians and leading policy and research related to Labour's campaign to stay in the European Union. Brian also played a crucial role in developing media strategy and proactive press activity for the party. Prior to that, they worked in the Office of the Leader of the Opposition as a Policy and Political Adviser for Europe.

Brian's career began at the European Parliamentary Labour Party, where they worked as a Campaigns Officer, developing campaigns on European policy issues across the Labour Party. Brian also gained valuable experience as the President of the University of Warwick Students' Union, where they were responsible for policy and press spokesperson roles, along with serving as the Chair of the Board of Trustees and Director of Warwick Students' Union Services Ltd.

Brian Duggan completed their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in English and Comparative Literature from the University of Warwick from 2002 to 2005. Brian then pursued a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Politics and Government in the European Union from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) between 2008 and 2010.
