Zachary Lipton

Chief Technology Officer at Abridge

Zachary Lipton has worked in various positions throughout their career. Zachary began as a co-founder at Trace Health in 2013. Zachary then went on to work as a research intern at Microsoft in 2014, and later at Amazon in 2015. In 2014, they also became a contributing editor at KDnuggets, where they analyzed recent developments in machine learning and artificial intelligence research. Zachary completed their PhD at the University of California, San Diego in 2017, focusing on machine learning methods and applications. Zachary then worked as a visiting scientist at Amazon Web Services in 2017 and as a research intern at Microsoft in 2016. From 2019, Zachary joined Abridge where they held various roles, including scientific advisor, chief scientific officer, and chief technology officer. Currently, they are an associate professor of machine learning at Carnegie Mellon University. Zachary'sresearch interests include recurrent neural networks, machine learning for healthcare, reinforcement learning for dialogue systems, and generative modeling.

Zachary Lipton completed their high school education at NRHS from 2000 to 2003. Zachary then went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Mathematics - Economics at Columbia University from 2003 to 2007. Later, they pursued a Master's Degree in Computer Science from UC San Diego from 2013 to 2015, followed by a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Computer Science from the same institution from 2013 to 2017.
