Shankar Bhardwaj is an engineer in the Offshore Engineering Department at the American Bureau of Shipping, a position held since December 2012, where responsibilities include reviewing engineering drawings and documents for compliance with class rules and industry standards. With a long-standing role as a Merchant Mariner for the International Organization of Masters, Mates, & Pilots since July 1998, Shankar has extensive experience on commercial ships. Prior experience includes serving as a trainee naval architect at Marine Design and Operations, Inc., and as a research assistant at the Davidson Laboratory of Stevens Institute of Technology. Shankar holds a Bachelor of Engineering in Naval Architecture from State University of New York Maritime College and a Master of Science in Maritime Systems from Stevens Institute of Technology.
