Obedi Laiser

Obedi S. Laiser currently serves as a Member of the Board of Trustees at the Eastern Arc Mountains Conservation Endowment Fund (EAMCEF) since September 2024. From February 2020, Obedi functions as the Managing Director and CEO of Absa Bank Tanzania, previously holding the role of Executive Director Finance. Prior experience includes serving as the Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer at Barclays from March 2016 to February 2020, and as Head of Finance and Risk for Mobile Financial Services at Millicom from January 2012 to February 2016, where notable accomplishments include receiving the Global Millicommander Finance Award in 2014. Earlier in Obedi's career at PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), various positions such as Audit/Assurance Manager and Senior Auditor were held, leading to significant contributions and recognition, including a two-year secondment to PwC's London office. Obedi is an ACCA graduate from Strathmore University and Oshwal College, with a B.Com in Finance from the University of Dar es Salaam.
