Gillian Poon

Gillian Poon is an experienced professional in financial crime governance, risk, and control, currently serving as the Head of Absa Financial Crime Governance Risk and Control since January 2017. Prior to this role, Gillian held the position of Head of Payments and Shared Services Risk & Control at Absa from April 2013 to November 2016, and worked as an Operational Risk Manager at Absa Capital from July 2008 to April 2013. Earlier career experience includes serving as Senior Manager in IT Advisory at KPMG South Africa from January 2000 to July 2008. Gillian Poon holds a Bachelor of Commerce (BCom) degree in Informatics from the University of the Witwatersrand, completed in 1999.
