Shalain Gopal

Shalain Gopal has a diverse and extensive work experience in various roles and industries. Shalain started their career at Tiscali as a Senior eBusiness & Web Development professional. Shalain then joined Absa Bank, where they worked as a Business Analyst and Business Design Consultant in the Delivery Channel Services division. During their time at Absa, they received an award for their contributions to the Internet Banking, Mobile, and Internet Channels.

Shalain also worked at Michael Page International as a Business Analyst, managing multiple projects simultaneously. Shalain then joined PriceWaterhouseCoopers as a Business Consultant, where they worked on the BP Project, focusing on data extraction and documentation.

Shalain transitioned to the financial sector and joined Barclays Wealth as a Business Analyst and Project Manager, working on international projects in the International & Private Banking technology team. Shalain continued their career at Absa Capital affiliated with Barclays and Barclays Wealth and Investment Management, holding roles as a Project/Development Manager and a Programme/Project Manager, respectively.

Shalain then moved to Barclays Investment Bank, where they served as a Programme Manager for Global Investments & Solutions. Shalain played a significant role in identifying wealth management needs, setting project objectives, and ensuring the successful execution of change initiatives.

Most recently, Shalain has been working at Absa Group as the Head of Digital Data Products, leading the digital data product initiatives. Prior to this role, they were the Lead for Data Science & Engineering at Absa Group.

Throughout their career, Shalain has demonstrated expertise in data analysis, project management, business consulting, and change management. Shalain'swork experience spans across multiple industries, showcasing their adaptability and versatility.

Shalain Gopal holds a Certificate in Data Science from NYC Data Science Academy, which was obtained between 2016 and 2017. In addition, they earned a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) in Management Studies from the Management College of South Africa from 2010 to 2012. Shalain also completed an Information Technology Diploma from Durban University of Technology from 1996 to 2000. Shalain obtained an Investment Management Certification from BPP Law School in 2007, as well as an Intro to Securities & Investment qualification from University of Westminster-Harrow Business School during the same year. Shalain completed their secondary education with a Matric Exemption from Matriculation Exemption Phoenix Secondary School from 1989 to 1995. Shalain also pursued an online course on Tackling the Challenges of Big Data from Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 2015. Lastly, they have received additional certifications such as the MIT-edX Honor Code Certificate for Tackling the Challenges of Big Data from edX in 2015 and the Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM®) from the Project Management Institute (PMI®) in December 2012.
