Johanna Denowitz

Program Director & Guide at Academic Expeditions

Johanna is a New England native now residing in Alexandria, Virginia. She attended college at both The State University of New York at Delhi and The University of Massachusetts, Amherst, earning an AAS and BS in veterinary studies. During her time at UMASS, she spent a semester abroad interning at Currumbin Wildlife sanctuary on Australia’s Gold Coast, and this really punctuated her love for experiential travel. In 2008, Johanna attended the International Tour Management Institute, where she became certified tour director, holding a guide license in Washington, DC. Guiding has taken Johanna up and down the eastern seaboard to cities like Boston, NYC, Philadelphia, and DC. She has also led tours in the historic triangle of Virginia, as well as various National Parks and historic sites. In her spare time, she enjoys chasing the snow to downhill ski, backpacking, and traveling all over the globe in search of beautiful places and delicious food.
