Information Technology Assistant/ Data Specialist
Overview
The Information Technology (IT) Assistant works closely with the IT Director to provide support to the IT Director in his/her daily duties.
Status of Position
This is a full-time position with Académie Lafayette. This is an exempt position pursuant to the U.S. Department of Labor.
Reporting
The IT Assistant reports to the IT Director.
Responsibilities
The IT Assistant is primarily responsible for coordinating, implementing and executing the online testing protocols and procedures to ensure timely and accurate test-taking. The IT Assistant is tasked with providing technical support to staff, faculty, students and parents. The IT Assistant will be responsible for other duties as assigned by the IT Director.

Data Management
Coordinating database updates containing students’ classes; class rosters; homeroom information; multi-student family information; students’ second household information; students’ demographics; student log entries and comments
Overseeing end of year data processing and the archiving of yearly data
Coordinate, Setting up, organizing and communicating student achievement data for NWEA, EOC, MAP tests. IXL, School Messenger, Clever, Panorama, Raptor, Titan, Transfinder, Avent Assessment and others software as needed.
Organizing and communicating student monthly behavior and absence data
Archiving teachers’ grades and comments (K-12) nine times per year (4 midterms; 4 quarters; and end of year grades) and exporting the information to students’ hard-copy report cards.
Be responsible for all aspects of the SIS
Work with all related IT departments contractors
Addtional Duties
Organizing on a daily basis the tasks file for the IT Director and IT department
Developing customized reports as required by the charter school sponsor and customized reports for effectively reporting data to staff, faculty, and parents
Training staff and faculty on basic daily functions of student databases, teacher, staff and parents technology needs
Assisting with upgrading web-based grade setup
Providing audio visual support to staff, faculty and students including, but not limited to, equipment set up; support during the use of equipment and break down of equipment used
Maintaining attendance for Academic Support
Digitizing the master permanent hard copy files for current and archived students using document storage software
Providing student records in response to other educational institutions’ requests
Maintaining and updating parent/staff automated phone contact system
May be required to work some Saturday or holidays
May be required to do other duties or jobs as long as it pertains to the IT department.
Hours are from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM on regular days
20 days yearly vacations must be approved by the IT Director in advance
May be required to help setup Board meeting for the Superintendent.
Lead the technology committee and help write the technology plan
May be required to go to other buildings or bus lots for technical help.
Qualifications
The IT Assistant must have superior written and oral communication skills and exhibit a high caliber of expertise with student information systems. The IT Assistant must be able to work independently and with groups, prioritizing tasks and managing time. The position requires strategic planning and forethought, anticipating and addressing potential issues preferably before
they arise or at a minimum before they reach a critical level. The IT Assistant must be able to work on multiple projects; be responsive to emergency requests; and meet deadlines in a timely, accurate manner consistently maintaining excellent quality control. This position requires sound judgment, strong interpersonal skills and being a motivated learner who is willing to continue to pursue educational opportunities in the field.
● College Degree or Technical Degree
● Completed course in college-level Excel
● Minimum 3 years experience working within a student information systems environment
● Expertise in google workspace
● Expertise in computer (Mac and PC) and network troubleshooting and repairs
● Expertise in school management software programs (SIS) PowerSchool preferably
● Expertise in basic HTML or other coding or programming software
● Working knowledge website management; document storage software; and on-line networking sites
● Fluent or near fluent in French is a bonus but not necessary
Other Requirements
Must be willing to undergo and clear a state and federal fingerprint background check through MACHS as well as be registered with the Family Care Safety Registry.
