Overview
Special Education teachers wanted for elementary and middle school. Candidates should be able to provide individualized instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of their students in a French immersion public school.
Status of Position
This is a full-time position with Académie Lafayette. This is an exempt position pursuant to the U.S. Department of Labor.
Reporting
The Special Education Teacher reports to their campus/building principal.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for preparing and implementing the Missouri Learning standards for IDEA students in the classroom
- Following the goals and objectives in the IEP for each student by maintaining communication with parents and teachers on the educational progress of students.
- Work with building process coordinator in delivery of services to IDEA students.
- Work with general education teachers in screening, evaluating, and providing inclusion under parameters of IEP.
- Develop accommodations/modifications to meet the unique needs of students in classroom, CWC, or inclusive setting.
- Perform other duties assigned by Director of Special Education.
- Develop annual IEP’s and reevaluation reports for special education students.
- Knowledge of Transition Process/Student Goals
- Classroom management
- Maintain accurate grades and documentation in order to meet deadlines
- Participate in all mandatory training and professional development, as required
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Degree in Special Education
- Hold or be eligible for Missouri Teaching Certificate in Special Education
- Thorough knowledge of teaching best practices and legal educational guidelines for IDEA and 504 partnered with a willingness to follow the school’s policies and procedures
- Proven experience as a teacher
- Excellent communication, organization, and interpersonal skills necessary for working in a multicultural environment
