Dr Bertha le Roux has a diverse work experience in the field of music education and research. Dr Bertha currently works as a Piano Teacher at the Academy since April 2020. Prior to this, they were a Freelance Dr of Music at the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika starting from November 2014. Dr Bertha also owned their own business, Precis Musical Tuition & Theory, since May 1998. Dr le Roux served as a Lecturer in Research Methodology in the Postgraduate department at the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria from July 2014 to December 2016. Before that, they worked as an Admin Assistant and Harmony teacher at Menlo Park High School from January 2005 to December 2010. Dr Bertha'steaching experience also includes being a Piano, Clarinet, and Guitar teacher at Rietondale Music Centre from January 1994 to April 1998.
Dr Bertha le Roux has a diverse education history in various fields related to music and sound therapy. In 1989-1992, they pursued a B Mus (General) degree at the University of Cape Town, specializing in piano, harmony, history, ethnomusicology, composition, and arrangement. Following that, they completed a BMUS Hons degree in Piano Pedagogy at the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria in 1993.
In 1996, Dr Bertha le Roux obtained an LTCL certification from Trinity Guildhall (now Trinity College London). Dr Bertha also acquired an LRSM Piano Teaching certification from the University of South Africa/Universiteit van Suid-Afrika in September 1993.
Continuing their education, Dr Bertha le Roux pursued an MMus degree in Piano Pedagogy at the University of Pretoria/Universiteit van Pretoria from 1995-1996. Later, they attained a Doctor of Music degree from the same institution in 2010, focusing on teaching strategies influenced by musical, philosophical, and psychological aspects in the 21st century.
In 2018-2019, they attended the South African Centre for Soundtherapy to complete a foundation course in Soundtherapy & Sound Healing.
Additionally, Dr Bertha le Roux has an additional certification in Advanced Photography Skills from the College of Photography in 2000.
