Ronan Loftus

Ronan Loftus is a Co-founder and Executive Director of IdentiGEN Ltd. and oversees the company’s global commercialization and strategic development. He is also the President & CEO of IdentiGEN North America, Inc. Ronan received his Ph.D. from Trinity College Dublin on the genetic characterization of cattle breeds, and then he spent a number of years working on the conservation of Global Animal Genetic Resources with the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) in Rome. Following several Post-Doctoral positions, he helped co-found IdentiGEN, whilst completing an Executive MBA from University College Dublin Graduate Business School. In his role with IdentiGEN he has been successful in promoting DNA technology as a key tool to underscore supply chain integrity and drive quality improvements throughout the protein chain. IdentiGEN was recently purchased by Merck Animal Health. IdentiGEN technology is used by some of the world’s largest meat processors and food retailers as a response to emerging consumer demand for continuous quality improvement and market differentiation.
