Pablo Barcena

Pablo Barcena is a seasoned professional in strategy and innovation, currently serving as the Head of Technology and Innovation Strategy at Ecopetrol since January 2018, responsible for developing a profit center aimed at generating significant EBITDA over the next two decades. Previously, Barcena held the role of Head of Corporate Strategy at Ecopetrol, where notable achievements included leading the in-house development of the Corporate Strategy 2021-2040, formulating a decarbonization strategy aligned with international commitments, and designing frameworks for diversification beyond oil and gas. Earlier experience includes senior managerial roles at Accenture Strategy Upstream and Schlumberger, as well as consulting positions at McKinsey & Company. Barcena holds a Master’s degree in Mathematics and Finance from the University of Paris I: Panthéon-Sorbonne and a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tecnológico de Monterrey.
