Ian Black started their work experience in 1980 as a Radio Officer at BP Shipping Ltd, where they were responsible for radio watchkeeping and maintenance of radio and radar equipment. Ian then worked as a Test Engineer at Hewlett-Packard from 1984 to 1987, focusing on microwave test equipment and computer peripherals. From 1987 to 2000, Ian worked as an Engineering Technician at Strathclyde Passenger Transport Executive, handling system administration, network hardware installation, and high voltage switchgear. Ian then joined Glasgow City Council as an IT Professional Officer - Network Development Project Lead, leading projects related to network development and security. Since 2008, Ian has been working as a Senior Project Manager at ACCESS, overseeing IT projects including network security, upgrades, and systems refreshment, as well as managing IT for international sporting events and pension system upgrades.
Ian Black attended The Open University from 1994 to 1998 and earned a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Geography and Environment. In April 2013, they also obtained a Prince 2 - Practitioner certification.
