Jason Bethel

Director of Laser Engineering at Access Laser

Jason Bethel has extensive experience in the laser engineering industry. Jason is currently serving as the Director of Laser Engineering at Access Laser since February 2023. Prior to this, Jason held various roles at Synrad, starting in March 1999. Jason served as the Senior Scientist, leading the technical architecture, project management, and product development of the Synrad Firestar Product Lines. Jason also served as the Chief Scientist, leading a team of engineers and overseeing project management and product development for Synrad's i401 and Pulstar Laser Product Lines. Before joining Synrad, Jason worked as a Senior Physicist at Elekta Oncology Systems from 1997 to 1999.

Jason Bethel's education history begins in 1985 when they enrolled at the University of St Andrews for a Bachelor's degree with Honours in a joint degree program focusing on Astronomy and Physics. Jason successfully completed this program in 1989. In the following academic year, from 1989 to 1990, Jason pursued a Master's Degree in Laser Engineering and Pulsed Power Technology at the University of Strathclyde. This program covered topics such as Gas Lasers, Laser Engineering, and High Voltage Engineering, with a specialization in Metal Vapor Lasers.

After completing their Master's degree, Jason continued their academic journey at the University of St Andrews, where they pursued a PhD in Physics and Laser Engineering from 1990 to 1994. Their research focused on Microwave Excited Metal Vapor Lasers, specifically Copper and Strontium Ion lasers. Jason successfully completed their doctoral studies at the University of St Andrews.

Following their PhD, Jason moved on to Heriot-Watt University, where they engaged in research on RF Excited Gas Lasers from 1994 to 1997. Although no specific degree name is provided for this period, it may be assumed that Jason obtained valuable experience and knowledge in this field.

In summary, Jason Bethel's education journey took him through various institutions, including the University of St Andrews, the University of Strathclyde, and Heriot-Watt University. Jason progressively advanced in their studies from a Bachelor's degree in Astronomy and Physics to a PhD in Physics and Laser Engineering, specializing in Microwave Excited Metal Vapor Lasers.
